After many meetings, restrictions, hurdles and 23-months we had our first Spareparts event on Saturday in Sandbach. What a wonderful event it was! The sun shone, all day, which increased the buzz around the park for all staff, volunteers and participants.
The coming together, of people, in one place was electric. The adrenaline was evident in all of us, with smiles all round. A true sense of community spirit and connections, majority of us had never met in person but established friendships on our digital sessions. Meeting in-person felt like a gift and one we were all ready to open!
Our Lullaby parade was everything we wished for and more… the magic of light, sound and people. Seeing the faces of young and old as the cyclists arrived, waved, past was just fantastic. This made all our work worthwhile, the poignancy of Luke Jerram’s installation was felt by us all.
A huge thank you to all our team, who worked above and beyond to make this work, the volunteers who gave their time, the participants who made the vision a reality, our partners at Cheshire East and Sandbach Transport Festival, the artists we created such beautiful work and finally our audience who we hope experienced something truly awesome and a memory they will carry for many years to come.
